Cat owners are accustomed to watching their pets stare at, meow at, or paw at the TV every time there is a bird or squirrel on the screen. But do the cats even really see anything? Or are they just chasing fast moving images.
Well actually they do see, nowadays. A cat’s vision is very acute, and can see at a much higher speed then a human eye. So it is likely on older televisions the images used to move too slowly, and so the images would not resemble real life. However on the more modern TV’s of today the image quality is much higher and the speed is quick enough to emulate real life. So it is likely cats see what we see.
Cats actually are watching so much TV we are seeing a recent boom of specially videos for cats to watch on Youtube. They are hugely popular too. So big that its not uncommon for these videos to have millions of views.
